I Love Rice

If I had to choose one food to eat every single week for the rest of my life, it would be rice. It is the ultimate go-to food. You can fry it, bake it into a casserole, make it a porridge, or pair it with beans. Whether it is a smoky jollof, a creamy risotto, a spicy biryani, or just steamed with a pinch of salt or the right seasoning for flavor enhancement, rice is an incredible source of carbohydrates that never gets boring.

Rice is Colorful

Most people are familiar with white and brown rice, but it also includes:

  • Green rice
  • Black rice
  • Red rice
  • Purple rice
  • Golden rice

So far, I have only tried the white, brown, black, and green types. While some have distinct flavors, they all still taste like rice, and I cannot wait to try the red, purple, and golden grains.

Cost and Availability

The cost of rice varies just as much as its colors. While generic rice is a cheap staple in most areas, it is often unaffordable in other parts of the world due to high costs stemming from local production, import dependency, and trade issues like tariffs and currency devaluation.

Luxury Rice

The economics of rice are just as diverse as its colors, and luxury rice exists for those who can afford it. There is Premium Basmati, rare Hesawi red rice, and Kinmemai Premium, which is recognized by Guinness World Records as the most expensive rice on the planet.
