Life Lessons On Safety: Be Safe Out There

There’s an old saying: “Expect the worst, but hope for the best.” While that sentiment may sound a bit cynical, it shouldn’t be a reason to live in fear. Good things happen frequently, yet unfortunately, the world often highlights bad news far more than good.

Put SAFETY at the top of your priorities. It isn’t a hindrance, it’s an essential cushion. The reckless may get lucky occasionally, but luck eventually runs out, and many simply won’t get a second chance.

Trouble exists everywhere: at home, at work, on vacation, and anywhere in between. Those who create or seek trouble are often driven by irrational motives.

  • Some troubles try to identify other troubles when the object is right within. Think about it.
  • There are predators and stalkers: bad actors and self-proclaimed "good guys" who are constantly hunting for an opening.
  • Some threats come from strangers, but others come from trusted opportunists: family, friends, and allies who may exploit your vulnerability.
  • Money is a constant factor; for the right price, you can be betrayed by those you trust most.

While "safety" is an easy concept to sell, the guardrails designed to prevent it's abuse and misuse (if present) are often riddled with loopholes. Even officials can fall victim to the very regulations they helped enact in the name of safety.

To protect yourself, keep these principles in mind:
  1. Maintain reliable contacts: report your whereabouts and check in regularly.
  2. Keep detailed records; documentation is key, especially when fatigue clouds your judgment. It will serve as a reliable reference later.
  3. Stay grounded, nurture your resilience, and make time to truly enjoy the moment. :)

It is what it is. Be safe out there.
